Trip to Nauvoo

We were able to go to Nauvoo for a day and have some fun with our family. We ate lunch by the temple and saw the beautiful sculpture of Joseph and Hyrum Smith.

We took a horse-carriage ride where we were told many neat stories about historical Nauvoo, the Prophet Joseph Smith, and the dedicated Saints.

We spent some time at Pioneer Pasttimes where the boys got to play some period games.

Ryan walking on stilts. Very impressive.

We toured many houses, including John Taylor's house with the famous rocking horse. When the Saints were driven from Nauvoo, John Taylor's son was crying because they left his rocking horse. So, John Taylor rode back, risking his life, to get his son's rocking horse back.
